Mathias Farms COVID-19 Safety Plan 

 

WE are happy to announce that Mathias Farms will be open this fruit/summer season 2021! The tradition continues and we are looking forward to your return.  We will be offering both retail and pick your own with a few changes. Our customers and staff’s health and safety are our top priority during this Covid-19 pandemic. New procedures will be incorporated to ensure physical distancing when you visit the farm and fruit stand. We will be adhering to the measures and guidelines of your local governments and health organizations.

 

Just a few general notes:      

   

  • Mathias Farms staff are screened daily for COVID-19 to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. We kindly ask that all customers asses their own health prior to visiting the farm. 

  • The parking lot in front of our fruit stand will be CLOSED this season to allow for maximum space for customers to social distance. Customers are asked to park on the lawn, the side driveway by the farmhouse or across the road (on weekends only).  Please watch for traffic.

  • Debit and cash are our accepted methods of payment this season. While debit is our preferred method of payment, cash will be accepted. 

  • Please follow signage and arrows to reduce cross traffic.

  • Gloves and masks are required on the property. Please see below for specific requirements for both our pick your own orchards and retail spaces. 

  • Hand sanitizing stations have been set up throughout the property. Please sanitize your hands at the start and end of your visit and as needed. 

  • Please maintain a 2-meter (6-foot) distance at all times while in the orchards, yard and retail spaces. If a safe distance cannot be kept, please use a face covering. 

  • Mathias Farms is pet friendly. Dogs must be leashed at all times. We kindly ask that owners pick up any fertilizer left by their four-legged friends.  

Yard Area / Fruit Stand:

  • Face masks are required.  You are welcome to bring your own or you can purchase one at the fruit stand. 

  • Please maintain 2-meter (6-foot) distancing at all times. If not possible please be patient and use face coverings. 

  • Please follow signage and arrows to reduce cross traffic.

  • Debit and cash are our accepted methods of payment this season. While debit is our preferred method of payment, cash will be accepted. 

Pick Your Own (PYO): 

  • Face masks are required.  You are welcome to bring your own or you can purchase one at the fruit stand. 

  • Gloves are required for ALL PYO tree crops. This includes: sweet and sour cherries and mulberries. You are welcome to bring your own or you can purchase a pair at the fruit stand.

  • PYO Cherries: Customers are welcome to bring their own litre baskets for picking or a basket can be purchased on the farm.

    • Please note that only litre baskets will be allowed. No other containers will be permitted for picking. 

  • PYO: Raspberries and Mulberries: Customers are welcome to bring their own pints for picking. Alternatively, customers can use the pints provided by the farm free of charge. 

    • Cardboard trays are limited this season. Please consider bringing your own to make picking multiple pints easier. 

  • PYO Purchases:

    • All customers will need to pre-pay for PYO purchases and a receipt will be provided.  

  • All customers must check out with a Mathias Farms staff associate/ sale person and present pickings and pre-pay ticket (Receipt).

  • For customers who wish to purchase other items from the fruit stand, these purchases can be made at the same time as pre-paying for PYO or while checking out. There will be no need to line up again, simply ask the staff and they will be please to assist you with additional purchase.    

  • Please follow signage and arrows to reduce cross traffic.

  • Please maintain 2-meter (6-foot) distancing at all times. If not possible, please be patient and use face covering. 

  • PYO Policies: 

    • No sampling of fruit and no picnics.  Fruit must be washed before consumed. 

    • No littering, please look for garbage cans and recycle bins in orchard and yard.

    • No purses, bags, backpacks, food, water, napkins, tissues, toilet paper or wet wipes are allowed in the field. 

 

Please be patient, kind and respectful as we work together to protect one another. Please consider that your level of comfort during these new protocols may not be the same for all of our customers.  We are looking forward to a great season and providing a good product and great experience to all our customers.
